About Us

The Safer Luton Partnership was formed in 1989 under its previous name of the Luton Crime Reduction Programme, in a direct response to the issues raised as part of the Crime and Disorder Act (1998). Today we have over 15 permanent staff, sessional workers, as well as in excess of 60 volunteers.

We are completly self-funded and rely on a variety of national and local funding agencies and sources to carry out our work. We operate as a not-for profit organisation.

The Safer Luton Partnership is an independent branch of the national charity Crime Concern. Crime Concern works in partnership with other agencies to prevent crime and create safer communities. This work is based on the belief that effective prevention depends on a combination of measures to make crime more difficult to commit, and employs initiatives that address the root causes of the problem.

The Partnership has a number of Stakeholders, representing the community, statutory and business sectors. In addition to this there are a number of key agencies and advisors that benefit our work. Our Chairperson and Programme Manager are members of the Responsible Authorities Group for the Luton Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.

For further information about the Safer Luton Partnership please email for a copy of our Annual Report 2006/07.
